Empire of the Undead, o 11º álbum de estúdio do Gamma Ray, será lançado pela earMusic em 28 de março. O trabalho estará disponível nos formatos CD padrão, CD/DVD Digipack, LP, digital e como uma boxset. Duas novas faixas do disco, Avalon e Pale Rider, foram liberadas para audição. A banda alemã de power metal liderada pelo vocalista e guitarrista Kai Hansen gravou o sucessor de To the Metal! (2010), em várias sessões realizadas ao longo de 2013, com Eike Freese no comando da mesa de mixagem ao lado do baixista e co-escritor Dirk Schlaechter. Neste mês, o grupo iniciou a turnê de divulgação pela Europa, tendo o Rhapsody of Fire como atração de abertura.
